Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about regenerative human biologics, exosome therapy, stem cells, and becoming a provider.
What are human biologics?+
Human biologics are products derived from human tissue, most commonly exosomes, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), and Wharton’s Jelly. Licensed healthcare providers use them across regenerative applications such as skin quality, joint support, hair restoration, and wound care. These products are not FDA-approved for these uses and remain an investigational category of medicine.
What is exosome therapy?+
Exosome therapy uses cell-derived extracellular vesicles that carry growth factors, cytokines, and signaling molecules involved in the body’s repair process. Because that repair process underlies most regenerative and wellness services, exosome therapy is often added alongside a provider’s existing offerings rather than as a standalone treatment.
What is the difference between exosomes and stem cells?+
Stem cells are living cells capable of differentiation. Exosomes are acellular vesicles secreted by cells, carrying growth factors and signaling molecules without containing any live cells themselves. Both are used in regenerative medicine, but because exosomes contain no living material, they have simpler storage requirements and can be used in delivery routes, like IV administration, that live cell products aren’t suited for.
How do I become a Sōlix provider?+
Licensed healthcare providers can apply through “Become a Provider” on the Sōlix website. Once approved, your Provider Portal access includes:
- A business guide for adding regenerative human biologics to your services
- Wholesale pricing on vetted human biologics
- Clinical evidence resources
- Informed consent form templates, including state-specific versions
- Overnight cryopreserved shipping on every order, direct from the lab to your practice
What are your sourcing standards?+
Every biologic we connect providers to comes from an FDA-registered facility, with documentation from lab to provider so you know exactly what you're receiving:
- The lab's FDA Establishment Identifier (FEI) number and most recent inspection date
- A Certificate of Analysis (COA) with every lot
- Post Thaw Third Party Testing is transparent and available
- Direct lab verification when needed, including Nano Sight Data reports confirming post-thaw count claims
- No culture-expanded biologics. Nothing we connect providers to is expanded in culture.
- Always at wholesale cost for providers
What is Wharton’s Jelly and how is it used?+
Wharton’s Jelly is the gel-like connective tissue found inside the umbilical cord. It naturally contains growth factors, hyaluronic acid, collagens, and other extracellular matrix proteins. Providers may add it to their existing services, including joint, wound, and surgical site applications, based on their own clinical judgment and each patient’s needs. Wharton’s Jelly is not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
How do exosomes compare to PRP?+
They come from different sources and are prepared differently. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is made from the patient’s own blood, which is drawn and processed in the office at each visit. The exosomes available through Sōlix are amniotic-derived, acellular extracellular vesicles that are processed in a lab and shipped ready to use, so no blood draw is needed. PRP’s composition depends on the patient’s own blood, so it can vary from person to person and visit to visit. Exosome products are documented by lot with a Certificate of Analysis. Providers may use either one, or both, based on their clinical judgment and each patient’s needs. Exosome therapy is investigational and not FDA-approved to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. See our Clinical Evidence page for published research.
What specialties can offer regenerative biologics?+
Licensed providers use regenerative biologics within their scope of practice, adding them to patient care in settings such as med spas and aesthetics, cosmetic surgery, orthopedics, hormone and wellness clinics, and regenerative dentistry. See our Clinical Evidence page for published research from a range of clinical settings.
Do I need additional training to provide human biologics?+
It depends on your license, your state, and how you plan to use them. Sōlix provides business guidance and resources to help you add human biologics to services already within your scope of practice. If you’re considering a new service area, we can point you to the right resources and training so you can add that service safely before adding biologics to it. Always confirm requirements with your state licensing board.
